Are our Food Prices Rising?

  WALT: Conduct a statistical investigation.

To be successful I will:
  • Collect data from 3 supermarkets - Pak 'n' Save, Countdown & New World.
  • Choose 30 items to buy and record their prices in a google sheet.
  • Sort my grocery items into different food types.
  • Compare the % of shopping spent on the different food types.
  • Summarise our findings.

Our Findings:
We found out that Pak 'n' Save was definitely the cheapest place to shop.  However, we also found that
Pak'n' Save had the most expensive prices for fruit and vegetables.  That was quite interesting.
We found that we spent the most on dairy products with our average percentage of our shopping spent on it to be about 27-30% of our total shopping budget.  The most expensive item on our grocery list was steak which averaged between $10 - $13.

Here is the data we collected of the food types and their total percentage price.
